How to Lead a Bible Group That People Actually Enjoy Attending
How to Lead a Bible Group That People Actually Enjoy Attending
Most Bible groups start with the best intentions.
Someone opens their home.
Or gather in the church.
The Bible is opened.
But then something awkward happens.
The leader asks a question…
…and the room goes silent.
DEAR BIBLE GROUP LEADER
Do I need a theology degree?
No. You need a love for the Word of God, and a love for people.
So I need to be an extrovert?
No, introverts and extrovers alike are equally great at running a small group. What matters is that you love God and love people, and want to make a safe place where the group can grow together as disciples of Jesus.
What if I am a pastor with a theological education. Is this system to simple for me?
I think you will love it and see your Bible groups thrive even more. Sometimes even seasoned pastors forget one or more of the four elements that make for a great Bible group.
How much time does this take?
The course has short on-demand modules. All together watching takes less than 1 hour. The goal is less stress, not more load.
What if my church tradition isn’t "small group friendly"?
We cover common myths and practical ideas on how to work with your context wisely. But the truth is that groups and fellowship is a biblical concept. The early church started with house congregations, not large church buildings. The DNA of Christianity is a small group movement of disciples.
Can I cancel my $7/month membership?
Yes. Cancel anytime.
Some members just go through the Bible Group Blueprint and then leave.
Others choose to stay around for the other courses inside Bibloy.com that are great for any small group leader, like Intro to the Gospels, Hermeneutics, Take Back Your Life (a Christian time management course with built in spiritual habits). Many have used our course on the Gospel of John or the training on the Parables of Jesus as powerful preparation for their Bible group meetings.

Here are the four elements.
Principle 1: Make it Biblical
So it doesn’t become a therapy session, a debate club, or an “opinion circle.” You’ll learn how to keep the conversation anchored in the Word.
Principle 2: Make it Interesting
People love learning something real. You’ll learn how to prepare just enough to create “wow” moments, without over-preparing or turning it into a lecture.
Even if you're nervous about awkward silences, dominating personalities, or not knowing all the answers

Frequently Asked Questions
Or one person talks for ten minutes straight.
Or the conversation drifts into random opinions.
Or the discussion feels shallow and disconnected from real life.
After a few weeks the group quietly loses momentum.
People stop showing up. Or think of the group as a chore to endure.
And the leader begins wondering:
“Maybe I'm just not good at leading a group.”
But here’s the truth:
Great Bible groups are not the result of charismatic leaders.
They are the result of a simple structure that makes conversation natural and meaningful, and cenctered on the Word of God.
And once you understand that structure, the rhytm, then leading a group becomes much easier, and a lot more fun.
The Simple Rhytm Behind Every Great Bible Group
After many years as a pastor and Bible teacher, I noticed something interesting.
The Bible groups that truly came alive all had four elements present in every meeting.
But when one of these elements was missing…
The meeting felt flat.
These four elements make up what I call the Bible Group Gameplan.
Who is this for?
The Bible Group Gameplan is for the leader who feels the nudge of the Spirit…
but doesn’t want to fail people.
Maybe you’ve thought:
Underneath all those fears is something deeply sincere:
You want to honor Jesus.
You want to honor His Word.
And you want to love His people well.
So the Bible Group Gameplan is made for anyone stepping up to lead a group:
• First-time (or insecure) Bible group leader who fears awkward silence, not knowing what to say, or “doing it wrong”
• Leader of a group that feels dry or stagnant and you want the meetings to feel alive again
• Pastor or ministry leader who wants more Bible-centered fellowship happening beyond the pulpit (and wants lay leaders to thrive)
This is for everyone who wants to lead a Bible group where the Word comes alive… and people feel loved.
Not just another meeting.
Not another “awkward circle” or a "weekly chore".
A table where Scripture is opened. Hearts are softened. Prayers are shared. And people leave stronger than they came.
If you are ready for that, I want to welcome you on board Bibloy.com

Principle 3: Make it Practical
So the Bible study doesn’t stay in the clouds. You’ll learn how to guide the discussion toward real-life change with the right kinds of questions.
Principle 4: Make it Personal
This is where groups become family. You’ll learn how to build trust so people open up—and how to lead with authenticity without forcing vulnerability.
So are you ready to lead a group where Scripture feels alive again?
You don’t have to wait until you “feel prepared.”
You just need the right foundation.
I am excited about this Bible Group Gameplan training and my prayer is that it will greatly inspire and help your small group.
Sincerely,
About Reimar Vetne
So who am I?
I’m a currently pastoring two churches in Norway, and the Bible group time is honestly the best time of the week.
I have earlier spent decades teaching and training leaders—both in the local church and in academic settings.
I hold a BA in Theology, and an MA and PhD in New Testament, and was a NT university professor for six years.
But what matters most is simple:
I love Bible groups.
I’ve seen what makes Bible-centered groups come alive.
I’ve seen what breaks them.
And I believe Bible-focused small groups is more important than ever for every local church.
The Bible Group Gameplan is the distilled version of my experience — the foundation that makes leading a Bible group easier, spiritually rewarding, and actually enjoyable.
And the system works whether you are a pastor, a seasoned group leader, or have never tried running a small group before but are excited to try.
